Lions Club

The Napanee Lions club is very active in the greater Napanee area.

Work and support of programs for the blind is one of the core functions of Lions since Helen Keller asked Lions to become “Knights of the Blind in1925.The Lions Club of Napaneee supports with generous donations to Leader Dogs for the Blind and also the Lions Foundation of Canada each for their guide dog programs. Annually the club provides a vision and hearing screening program for the six area kindergarten and grade one classes. The objective of this program is to ensure that if there are any students found with sight or hearing related problems, their families are notified so that they will be able to take the necessary corrective measures. A child with either vision or hearing challenges will experience learning difficulties and they will not be able to function to their maximum capabilities.

The club actively supports the Canadian Diabetes Foundation

Organizing a walk in the spring and running a tag day in the fall. With these active projects, the funds that are raised go to support programs that are directed to the prevention and cure for diabetes and thus preventing blindness.

The Lions Club of Napanee has been a very generous donor to our local hospital.

Over the past years the club has made donations totaling over $135.000 as well as making donations to the Kingston General Hospital.
There have been many other areas supported financially by the Napanee Lions Club as well as individual private donations made to people in our community who for what ever reason needed help. Financial support of the many programs funded by the club comes from the dedicated hard working members of the club who believe in helping the less fortunate and investing in their community for the benefit of all its citizens.

Message in a Bottle Program

The program is designed to store a person’s medical information in a bottle to be kept in the refrigerator for easy access by first responders. To continue making our community a better place in which to live, we invite other community minded people to join with us because together we can do more than we can individually. The self satisfaction that one can experience comes from the adage” You haven’t lived until you have helped someone” is a saying spoken by our founder, Melvin Jones.
